Skullphone, Bast and Faile, who have each been making powerful impressions on the street art scene worldwide with their original styles, come together in this group show with new works and collaborations. Their shared style and linear imagery evokes a Punk and slightly nihilistic sensibility yet possesses strong design & composition. The overall feeling can be termed 'organized chaos', using the street as their canvas. |
The exhibition will consist of collaborations using silkscreen on wood panels and paper. The works will resemble their street art in both medium and style. Additionally, the artists will create a video and sound installation designed to explore the concepts of chaos and the roots of inspiration. |
SKULLPHONE Skull phone, aka Spazmat, is an LA-based street artist. His iconic imagery of a morbid yet witty skull holding a cell phone has been strategically placed along the urban skylines worldwide. This image epitomizes our times and breathes honesty, irony and humor simultaneously. Skullphone speaks coldly and anonymously to the public through the streets. Silkscreen and multimedia video installations are also a mainstay of Skullphone's work. Current articles on the artist include September 2005 Juxtapoz, Vapors issue #27 and a recent piece in The New York Times Sunday Magazine. Previously he has shown his work at the Stray Show in Chicago and Adobe Books in San Francisco. |
BAST lives and works in New York. He mostly works on the street keeping a low profile and has chosen to stay out of the mainstream art scene. His work can bee seen in the streets of New York, London, Paris, Zurich, Berlin, and Tokyo. In 2001 Bast collaborated on graphics for London’s One True Saxon and the Pro Keds sneaker line. His work is featured in part of a collection curated by UK street artist Bans |
FAILE is a three person collaborative, working closely with Bast. Together they have been making their mark on New York City and cities around the world. From enormous wheat paste posters, to three published books, collaborations with Staple Design, Pro-Keds, art direction for an issue of Dazed and Confused and cover artwork for XLR8R. Faile’s work has propelled from street renegades to making headway in the art world, and is similar to that of their peers such as Banksy (UK), Zevs and Invader (Paris), Kami (Japan), Shepard Fairy, Swoon, David Ellis, and the Barnstormers crew (USA). |
